A remarkable “Lotus Guide”

A remarkable “Lotus Guide”

It is the beginning of April so what a wonderful time to let every know about a highly recommended new guide on growing lotus. Each year my customers and visitors ask for more information on planting and growing instructions. The lotus are not hard to grow at all ,but without a little knowledge ,its very easy for beginners not to have good luck with the plant on the first try.

Paula Biles and Kelly Billing have put together a wonderful piece of literature about the lotus and many of the species, with over 100 images and so many years of imperative knowlege.

paulankellyPaula Biles is managing editor of PondKeeper Magazine, Executive Director of the International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society (IWGS), and has been a regular columnist for multiple publications and Magazines. Kelly Billing has worked as the Nursery Manager for Maryland Aquatic Nurseries (MAN) for over twenty years. She is co-author of the Water Gardener’s Bible and columnist for Pond & Lifestyle Magazine.

I did a little research and found about 6% of our orders the past two seasons included ordering lotus. More water gardeners than that perhaps grow lotus, they are winter Harday if treated properly and therfore you won’t be purchasing them every single year. You also need to have a little room for them in the pond as some of the species are not small. If you are trying a lotus this year we would reccomend using this publication as a guide and for garden groups and pond groups this will be a wonderful book that will come in handy for reference for years to come!

We will celebrate the lotus this week with the introduction of this Book in the Lotus area at PondMegastore.com and you can purchase any of our lotus for a special price $22.95 this week only! Paula and Kelly have more projects in the works and have created a special site I will add to our Blogroll soon until then here is a link to AboutTheLotus.com .

  1. Sounds like the book and a lotus may make a wonderful Mothers day duo. That is a great price on the lotus and a very large selection. I have successfully grown a yellow lotus for 4 years but would still love to read the book. Wish I had room for another.

My sister shared this book with me over the Holidays and she has grown a lotus (Nelumbo) before this year I am going to try one and we are going to get our mother one to grow in a container garden. Loads of information on the history of the lotus as well as growing them. Very educational.

  3. I bought this book after I purchased two lotus. It is very informative on both the planting and history of the plant. They are very important in so much of the world.
